1978 - Rodney C A Fitzgerald

Rodney Cyril Alban FitzGerald MA Deputy MBE joined the Livery in April 1946, where he was known to all as Fitz, having gained an MA degree at Oxford.  His keen interest in the City led him to be elected deputy for Bread Street Ward in 1983 and subsequently to the higher office of Sheriff. 

Fitz was appointed MBE in 2010 for services to the City.  His business career was mainly with a firm of Lloyd's brokers, he was an underwriting member of Lloyds, but his interest in sport, especially cricket and rugby led him to develop charities to assist young people into sport, and a Foundation has been established in his memory.  He was a member of the MCC.

In 1963 Fitz married Madelaine, who pre-deceased him in 1996.   Fitz died in 2012.  They did not have any children.
