GSMD Gold Medal Competition

Following a light supper, a Livery party of eighteen sat enthralled as the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Stark accompanied first Diana Ionescu who gave an excellent performance of the Schuman Piano Concerto.  Next on was Irish Cellist, Brian O’Kane, who performed Elgar’s Cello Concerto with great panache.  The show was stolen in the second-half by Martyna Jatkauskaite who gave a passionate performance of Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto. 

She received rapturous applause and a standing ovation from the audience and proved to be a most worthy winner of the Gold Medal with her fellow pianist as the runner up.
