MASTER’S CHARITY 2025
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
Whilst I am lucky enough to have three healthy grown-up children, I had the opportunity a few years ago of visiting Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in North London.
I was enormously taken by the facilities and the staff dedication and commitment that I witnessed, which is apparent as soon as one arrives at their amazing venue.
Noah’s Ark was established by Michael McInerney following the death of a child in his close family in a local hospital. Unhappy with the options available for the child, he launched Noah’s Ark’s care for children and families in 2006 after years of fundraising.
Their philosophy – making the most of every day – represents their core mission, which is to focus on improving the quality of life, and death, for the children and families that they support.
“Noah’s Ark have been fundamental to our journey, they have been amazing. Noah’s Ark know all the children individually – and their strengths – and they just make each moment count. I feel so lucky that we’ve got Noah’s Ark behind us, cheering us on. They are like family to us and the support they give us is so important but it’s also great fun, we always have fun when we come here. The Ark [Noah’s Ark’s hospice building] is Willow’s favourite place.”
— Elaine, mum to Willow
Each year they provide care for over 350 children and their families. They believe that every baby, child and young person who is seriously unwell, and their loved ones, should have access to expert and compassionate palliative care from the point of diagnosis.
Partnering with London’s NHS trusts and social care organisations, they have built a home, a community and a team to make that difference.
I am delighted to nominate this charity as my Masters Charity for 2025, and hope that everyone in our Livery will support this choice.
